I have a couple of roombas one being a new model 860.
Roomba hops when on rug.
Vacuuming still isn t fun but a solid cordless vacuum is more useful to me than a gimmicky robot.
They do the vacuuming for you saving time and hassle.
Roomba 880 vs 980.
I pretty much won t be able to allow the roomba to run on schedule when i m not home.
Half an inch thick rug is simply too much for roomba 980.
The white tape i used was still too transparant.
But it ll stop after when the roomba clean an area 2 3 times.
If it is a mat then the roomba may end up pushing the mat all over the place.
After going through some research it is safe to say that the 900 series of the irobot roomba robot vacuums are probably the best irobot products because they seem to have all the good stuff.

If the rug mat creates too much friction the roomba s rear rubber sweeper will get stuck and human intervention will be required.

More so getting roomba to cross from hardwood floor to a thick carpet is somewhat impossible.
I can t think of anything.
The vacuum struggles to pull out debris and dirt from these mats.
Robot vacuums sound great.
This vacuum does the job until it is completed.
If the edges of the rug are just high enough the roomba will tend to curl up the rug neither going over or under it.
Apparently though roomba can tackle most types of floors thick carpet is a challenge.
It getting more virtual walls or a virtual halo which seems super expensive.
It may have to empty the canister in every 15 20 minutes for the first few times.
But while plenty of people seem happy with their roombas i decided to return mine.
I have the same type of rug and roomba and same problem.
