This creates a truly random sanding pattern which removes wood quickly and minimizes swirl marks. I applied the sanding sealer after i had cleaned sanded deglossed the oak cabinets and before i applied my primer and paint. Then sand again with 120 grit to get rid of any sanding marks. If you have laminate on the sides of the cabinet boxes sand carefully so that you don t go clear through the laminate finish to the particle board underneath. But you don t need to sand to bare wood. Instead of sanding chris and lexi use mineral spirits and a rough scrubbing pad to clean the cabinets thoroughly before priming them.

Heavy grit papers 60 to 80 grit remove material too fast and create scratches that weren t there before.
